About Legend of Barbers

The biggest barber battle that Southeast Asia have seen thus far, WAHL Legend of Barbers 2022 features three distinct stages where the great will be separated from the good, with an emergent legend rising from the ranks of Southeast Asia’s best barbers and hairdressers. Be sure to have your Wahl barber shop tools and hairdresser supplies at the ready, and strive for excellence with unrestricted creativity to make your way to the finals. The three stages of WAHL Legend of Barbers 2022 are as such:

Stage One

The first stage requires all participants to submit their very own unique creative haircut creation to a curated panel of judges through a series of photographs and a video. The haircut must be executed using only Wahl clippers and Wahl trimmers — it doesn’t matter if they’re corded or cordless, as long as they’re from Wahl’s professional line of barber tools.

Video submission is not compulsory, however it will highly increase your chance of getting noticed! A total of 10 participants will be shortlisted from each country to move on to the second stage. 

Stage Two

At the second stage, the voting process takes a shift towards external sentiment. Contestants who qualify for the second round will be subject to a public voting process to determine the one true finalist that will champion their home country in the third and final round of WAHL Legend of Barbers 2022.

Stage Three

In the final round, each country’s finalist will gather to compete against one another on centre stage. There will be three winners who emerge from this battle — each will walk away with attractive prizes consisting of Wahl professional hair clippers, trimmers, and much more as a testament to their skill. However, only one legend will be crowned. 

Panel of Judges

The panel of judges that will be overseeing this competition consists of only the most skilled of professionals in the global barbering scene: 7 Wahl Educators and 2 Wahl Directors.

Wahl Educators

Wahl educators from all over Southeast Asia have been gathered together to facilitate the execution of WAHL Legend of Barbers 2022:

From Singapore, Yanto Sani.

From Malaysia, Eroll.

From Vietnam, LY.

From Philippines, Joe Camacam.

From Thailand, Arlee Menggi and Auto.

And leading the pack is Wahl’s SEA Lead Educator, Kervin Hiew.

Wahl Directors

Flying in from halfway across the world, we also have Wahl’s Global Director of Education, Stephanie Polansky, and Wahl’s Global Artistic Director, Simon Shaw. Together, these two globally renowned professionals will form the nucleus of WAHL Legend of Barbers 2022’s panel of judges. 

Prizes to Be Won

The second runner-up in WAHL Legend of Barbers 2022 will be given: 

• A Wahl 5-Star Series Premium Professional Barber Tool Set consisting of the Magic Clip Cordless Clipper, the Detailer Li Cordless Hair Trimmer, the Finale Cordless Shaver; and
• A cash prize of US$1,000 or equivalent. 

The runner-up in WAHL Legend of Barbers 2022 will also be given:

• The same Wahl 5-Star Series Premium Professional Barber Tool Set consisting of the Magic Clip Cordless Clipper, the Detailer Li Cordless Hair Trimmer, the Finale Cordless Shaver, with an added Wahl Barber Hair Dryer; and
• A cash prize of US$3,000 or equivalent.

The ultimate winner of WAHL Legend of Barbers 2022 will walk away with a grand prize of:

• A 6D5N experience at Wahl Clipper Headquarters, Sterling, Illinois;
• A Wahl 5-Star Series Premium Professional Barber Tool Set consisting of the brand new Legend Cordless, the Magic Clip Cordless Clipper, the Detailer Li Cordless Hair Trimmer, the Finale Cordless Shaver, a Wahl Barber Hair Dryer; and
• A 1-year Wahl Educator contract.
